THE CRUSADERS

Every year, the Order embarks on a sacred journey to the motherland of beer, exploring both time-honoured traditions and innovative flavours from the New World. We return enriched with knowledge, tastes, technology and experiences, which we use through collaborations with the finest minds to refine and elevate GCAs crafted by the Order.

THE GRAIN

Our search uncovered an age-old truth: a truly exceptional ale can only be crafted from the finest ingredients. The single most influential factor in an ale's flavour is the barley, grown in the richest, most flavourful soils and malted with cutting-edge technology. Only then do you have the foundation for an ale to reach its full potential. For over a decade we have dedicated ourselves to cultivating and testing different barley varieties to discover the best-tasting malted barley. Now, we are growing these varieties in a range of diverse soils and climates, searching for the perfect combination that delivers the most intense and complex flavours. While the best paired variety and location may shift from year to year, the quest for perfection will never end.

THE RECIPE

Even with the finest ingredients and the most advanced malting and brewing equipment, without the perfect recipe, the full flavour potential of the barley is lost. That is why the Order established a dedicated research institute, one that has meticulously developed and tested over 500 recipes in pursuit of the perfect formula to unlock the true essence of flavours from each region. No recipe stays the same. As each year, the unique characteristics of the season influence the final vintage recipe, ensuring that every batch is a true reflection of its time and place.

THE JOURNEY

Our ultimate quest is to craft a drink that embodies centuries of brewing tradition and mastery, worthy of being the drink at each of our inevitable last suppers. The Order's quest is to create GCAs that become unforgettable experiences with mates, something that is beyond words, one that can only be truly understood by those fortunate enough to taste the holy grail of ales. These extraordinary creations are the result of the dedication and expertise of the taste crusaders, craftspeople, and artisans who form the Order of GCA.
